Airline - Stratotone - two pickup, cherry redburst, hollow body electric guitar made in Chicago IL USA circa 1964 This is a hollowbody, single cutaway, two pickup, Airline Stratotone electric guitar made by Harmony of Chicago, IL, USA in 1964. This guitar features a chery redburst finish, a curly Maple body, two white plastic pickguards on either side of the string play area, white celluoid binding on the body and neck, two chrome De Armond single coil pickups with white diamond shaped cutouts, four black plastic knobs, a white plastic four-way selector, a trapeze style metal tailpiece, an adjustable rosewood bridge, one black plastic strap pin on top and one white plastic strap pin on the bottom. Overall, the guitar is very clean and in great shape. The neck is straight and everything works properly. This very lightweight guitar is completely original.Description from VintageSilvertones.com

CONDITION:
This Stratotone is very clean and in good condition. There are two very small spots of wear to the finish under the bridge on the front of the body. There are also two short scratch lines on the bottom edge of the guitar near the strap pin. There is another small spot of wear on the edge of the treble side near the binding. The headstock has some minimal wear on the top edges.

TUNERS:
The tuners, opened-back, 2x3 inline machine-heads with white, plastic buttons are in good working condition. They are smooth and hold the tuning and intonation well.

NECK:
The neck is in good shape. It's a straight, bolt-on neck with block mother-of-pearl inlays on a Rosewood fretboard, 20 frets, a plastic nut, and a 24" scale. The black headstock, featuring a silkscreened horizontal "Airline" logo, has some minor wear along the top edges. The neck is kept straight with a truss rod, adjustable at the top of the neck. The action is fast. The neck and the frets feel fantastic under your fingers.

PICKUPS:
The two chrome, single coil De Armond pickup sound very clean and full. They feature a white, diamond shaped cutout design. The neck pickup has a nice round tone, good for jazz, folk, blues, soul, rock, country, funk, and more. The bridge pickup has a clean, full sharper tone, good for rockabilly, punk, garage rock, funk and more. Below the pickguard, there are four pots: a volume and a tone control for each pickup. Theres is also a four-way selector to choose the neck, bridge or both pickups. The fourth position selects the rhythm setting. Using the tone and volume for each pickup and the selector, you can access a wide variety of tones sounds suitable for a myriad of musical styles. The pots and toggle sound very clean.
