DANELECTRO U2
1957

Danelectro U2, two pickup, electric guitar, semi-hollow body, copper, masonite body, lipstick pickups, made in 1957 This is a Danelectro U2 electric guitar made in Neptune, New Jersey in 1957. It has a copper finish with two lipstick pickups and a semi-hollow body. It's much more rare than the single pickup models. The serial number is difficult to read. The first two characters are blurry; which are the week it's made but it appears to be 2607. Functionaly, it's in excellent condition; all the pickups and controls work properly and the neck is straight with fast action. The finish on the other hand shows that it has been a well loved and played guitar. This guitar just feels great and sounds incredible. The neck pickup is full and rich sounding. The bridge pickup is raw and surf-toned. It comes with a hand-made hard-shell case. The case is decorated with old newspaper comics. (Note: These photos are more grainy than usual. The guitar actually looks better in person.)

The dimensions are 39" total length, 13.25" at widest point, 18" fretboard, 1.75" deep, and 25" total scale. It's approximately 5/8" deep at the nut and 7/8" deep at the body. For more information on Danelectro guitars check out the history on the gallery page.
