HARMONY H47: STRATOTONE

Harmony H47 - Stratotone - one pickup, redburst, hollow body electric guitar made in Chicago IL USA circa 1961 This is a hollowbody, single cutaway electric guitar made by Harmony of Chicago, IL, USA in 1961. It is part of Harmony's Stratotone line. This guitar features a redburst finish, white plastic pickguard, white celluoid binding on the body and neck, one gold foil De Armond single coil pickup, two white plastic knobs, a white plastic three way selector, a trapeze style metal tailpiece, an adjustable rosewood bridge, one black plastic strap pin on top and one white plastic strap pin on the bottom. Overall, the guitar is very clean and in great shape. The neck is straight and everything works properly. This very lightweight guitar is completely original and includes the original case.Description from VintageSilvertones.com

CONDITION:
This Stratotone is very clean and in good condition. There is one small line of crazing on the lower bass bout and a small scratch to the finish above that. There is also some minor wear on the back including buckle rash and some minimal wear on the edges of the headstock.

TUNERS:
The tuners, opened-back, 2x3 inline machine-heads with white, plastic buttons are in good working condition. The tuner for the D string is slightly bent but it is barely noticeable and it does not effect the tuning or playability. They are smooth and hold the tuning and intonation well.

NECK:
The neck is in good shape. It's a straight, bolt-on neck with block mother-of-pearl inlays on what looks like an ebony fretboard, 20 frets, a plastic nut, and a 24" scale. The headstock, featuring silkscreened "Harmony Stratotone" logo, has some minor wear along the edges. The neck is kept straight with a truss rod, adjustable at the top of the neck. The action is fast. The neck and the frets feel fantastic under your fingers.

PICKUPS:
The one, gold foil, single coil De Armond pickup sound very clean and full. It has a nice round tone, good for jazz, folk, blues, soul, rock country, funk, and more. Below the pickguard, there is a volume and a tone knob and a three way selector to choose the rhythm, treble or bass tones. Using the tone and volume and the selector, you can access a wide variety of tones sounds suitable for a myriad of musical styles. The pots and toggle sound very clean.
