This is a Varsity G55 lap steel/slide guitar made by Magnatone of California in 1958. It features a solid, hardwood body, a mother of pearl finish, a translucent red, raised handrest/guardplate, on the bass side of the instrument, red, translucent knobs, trapezoidal, tuning pegs and diamond shaped accent on the headstock, a single coil pickup underneath a metal handrest, a fixed, metal bridge/tailpiece, a neck-through type of design, a clear plastic fretboard, a metal nut, and an original hard shell case.
